Frequently Asked Questions

We suggest working backwards from when your event is set to finish. If your event is to end at 11pm, then our first set should begin at 8pm. Each hour with the exception of the final hour includes 45 min of music, and a 15 min set. Any specific requests you and your coordinator have determined (entrances, first dances, speeches, cake cutting, etc) will need to be communicated to the band so that we can integrate those details into our agenda.

Unfortunately we’re not able to give discounts for events that are shorter than our quoted time. The moment we book our musicians for an event, they are committing to the entire night and forfeiting any other work that might come their way. The other factor is that even if the event is an hour shorter than usual, we don’t actually benefit from that time once travel, set up, performance and tear down are factored in. It’s still a full night for us.

Yes, musicians always need 15 min to themselves to assure that their energy level is sustained from the first to the last note.

For receptions we do ask that a vendor meal be provided, which musicians and sound engineers will eat during one of their allotted breaks.

No we don’t. Although a stage is a nice touch, it’s also not absolutely required – all we need is a flat/dry surface close to the power sources required by our engineers. If you do have a stage and would like to use it, it should be roughly 8×12 feet for a 3-4 piece band, 12×16 for a 5-8 piece, and 12×24 for a 9-14 piece. Ask your producer if you still aren’t sure.

Lodging is required for events 2+ hours away from the base city. This needs to be discussed during the booking process to determine whether it’s an expense that we need to include in invoicing, or whether it will be handled by the client directly. In general, accommodations must include an individual room per musician/engineer with a full bed or larger.

Your guest count can help determine the right size band for your reception. For most groups of 50 or less, a quartet or 5-piece would work well. Once your guest count reaches 150-200, we’d recommend at least a 7-piece band, our most popular band size, to make sure the sound level and energy fits the guest count. If you’re throwing a big bash of 250+, we recommend at least a 9 or 10-piece…or you could go all out and impress your guests with a full 12-piece band!
